BRHC Announces Selection of New League Officers

The BRHC has nominated two new assistant commissioners and appointed a veteran official as the Director of Officiating. This announcement comes as the league continues its expansion in the Southeast. This week, the BRHC Board of Directors selected former University of Georgia player Lee Bosma to serve as the Carolina Assistant Commissioner, and Loyola Assistant Coach Sean Gahagan to serve as the Colonial Assistant Commissioner. In addition, Commissioner Ray Campbell selected veteran referee Bill Hughes to serve as the league's Director of Officiating on Tuesday.

Colonial Division Selects Three in Naples, Florida

The BRHC Colonial Division held its annual meeting in Naples, Florida Saturday and selected three new members for the 2010-11 season. Catholic University (Washington, DC), Virginia Commonwealth (Richmond, Virginia) and Old Dominion University (Norfolk, Virginia) was admitted. These selections, along with its four new members, demonstrates the BRHC's ability to achieve continued growth and development year after year.
BRHC & MACHA Unite, Recruit Top Southern D-II Teams

The Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Hockey Association and the Blue Ridge Hockey Conference are pleased to announce a new partnership. The joint venture will facilitate the growth and development of college hockey, while creating a new southern D-II division. The partnership represents 39 D-II and D-III hockey programs from Pennsylvania to South Carolina. In D-II alone, 9 of the top 15 ranked teams from the past season are represented.
The strategic alliance will oversee and manage both D-II and D-III programs. The BRHC will retain its name and logo, but will undergo changes to its Board of Directors during the off-season.
As of this announcement, the 2010-2011 season will see a new DII southern division comprised of former BRHC member East Carolina, former ACCHL member Virginia Tech, Kennesaw State University, Life University and Liberty University. The new league’s southern charter members boast impressive credentials; Six national championships (5 D-II, 1 D-III), 3 of the 5 teams were in their respective regionals this past season, 3 of the 4 current D2 teams were ranked in the top 11 of the Southeast regionals.
